Rail Safety Day and Reception at the Vermont State House

Learn more about what Amtrak, VTrans, our railroad companies and police are doing to enhance Vermonters’ safety on and around railroads. Speakers will highlight Amtrak police efforts to intercept drug trafficking on trains, Operation Lifesaver's efforts to reduce vehicle collisions at train crossings, and outreach to Vermont schools, youth & communities to reduce high-risk trespassing on train tracks and railyards.

We will also discuss the latest news about Vermont's Amtrak trains, including proposed federal funding cuts to Amtrak's national train network, and Vermont's ability to use Postive Train Control (PTC) tools to enhance train safety. Refreshments will be served. This is a media event; the public is invited & may ask questions of speakers and participants.
